3/21 ~ A New Life for Old Bread
3/20 ~ Save Your Eggshells
Use them to start seedlings for your garden. Crack your eggs in half, then rinse and save the shells in an egg carton. When it’s time to start planting, fill the halves with a little seed-starting medium and sow your seeds, one to half a shell. When seedlings emerge, plant them outdoors, eggshell and all. The eggshells will break down and add nutrients to the soil.
Stale bread doesn’t have to be destined for the trash can. Stick the bread under a trickling faucet for a couple of seconds, wet your hands and rub the loaf (you can also mist it with a spray bottle). Then pop the loaf into a preheated 350 degree oven for about ten minutes, and the bread will be almost as good as new. For other uses, try using it in these fabulous recipes:
Croutons, French Toast, Bread Pudding, Bread Crumbs, Bruschetta, , and Panzanella.
For a more creative approach, create a menu holder.
